A comically brutal story of revenge, possession, and identity, Landed is the story of Alice and Shelly. Alice at the age of 55, and in the throws of relationship devastation, uproots her affluent life in urban London and escaping her chaotic husband. She finds herself in his neglected ancestral home in the wilds of Devon. Shelly is literally of the land. She is bog woman morphed into an unconventional but friendly local. She appears amidst the chaos of Alice’s arrival, offering help, and an unexpected bond forms. They are quickly drawn pell-mell into each other’s worlds. The sensory assault of Shelly’s natural world seeps into Alice’s consciousness and she opens herself up to the earthy wet spirit of the land. However, Shelly is simultaneously seduced by the messiness of modern human relationships...an obsessive WhatsApp world washed in plenty of White Company hand soap.
