In Colchis
In the claustrophobic Arnald household amidst the watery Fens of 17th century England, Madeline is expected only to look after the needs of her puritanical father and feckless brother. When the only women in her life are taken from her by the actions of her brother, then her father, she seeks agency and power through Jason. A royalist soldier attempting to hide his allegiance to the deposed King, Jason is seeking what was taken from him by Alderman Arnald. In Madeline he sees a way to claim his prize.
Set in the Fens and interregnum of 1645, In Colchis is based loosely on the story of the Golden Fleece, where the parallels of women with occult power are utilised and feared by men in equal measure. This version centres Madeline (Medea) at the heart of the story.
In Colchis was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Chicago International Women Film Festival 2026.
